While we received a lot of good feedback and interest on this 2-bedroom condo in the heart of Makiki, Honolulu, it remained on the market through the holidays. As a result, the owners ended up doing a complete facelift on the unit, and it is now ready for the big reveal.
We are excited to announce that this property has gone through an amazing makeover, sure to please those buyers who desire a contemporary, turn-key property to move right into. The open concept kitchen is complemented by cheerful, brighter-colored walls, in addition to new golden-colored luxury vinyl flooring throughout. We’re very happy at how the renovation turned out, but it was admittedly a bigger project than any of us had planned. See below for all the before and afters!
Kitchen Renovation
The existing kitchen was old-style. While it was bright, the cabinets had seen its day and the countertops were made of laminate. The change is night and day different! The kitchen now features 40” wall maple cabinets, a pantry cabinet, plus a lazy Susan for your ultimate storage needs. The new granite countertops are cheerful and very different from the granite colors you typically see, and the backsplash makes everything pop! We added a new microwave hood, faucet, deep sink, disposal, and water heater conveniently located so you can actually access it if needed. This refresh turned a “nice” kitchen into a beautiful kitchen, one that we’re sure you will love to cook lots of meals in, especially because there’s tons of natural light and trade wind breezes.
Before/After Kitchen
New Paint & Flooring
Initially, we were just focused on the kitchen remodel, but soon after it was decided that the existing floors also needed attention. The hardwood was lovely in its day, but had scratches and some surface water damage over the years. The new floors are warmer in color, and very durable when it comes to wear and tear or spills.
Before/After Living Room
Of course, when we saw how beautiful the kitchen and flooring turned out, coupled with the new wall and ceiling paint, we looked at the bathroom and knew what we had to do…yes, we couldn’t leave the bathroom the only section untouched. It had a cute pedestal sink originally, but it didn’t provide storage. Plus, the fixtures were also in need of attention, and the tile flooring were 1”x 1” grey colored tiles, yuck! Although it took a little longer than planned, we decided it was only right to give the bathroom a more modern look, with additional storage, and even a new toilet. We are happy we did so because now the entire unit looks a thousand times better!
Before/After Bathroom
By the way, the washer/dryer was moved out of the kitchen, and back to its original home in the bathroom, to provide more usable space in the kitchen. The washer/dryer are fairly new and the dryer is vent-less, so you don’t have to worry about where the dryer exhaust ends up.
Stackable Washer/Dryer
Before/After Master Bedroom
Last but possibly the most important upgrades we made, was to the plumbing and electrical…something most men will be thrilled to hear. The kitchen was gutted completely and walls were opened to add new copper plumbing, plus move the water heater and unit water shut-off valve. Electrical upgrades were also done to make this unit safer and up to current electrical codes.
Come See for Yourself!
Please come and see this “new and improved” unit at our Open House on Sunday, May 5th, between 2-5 pm, Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 am, or contact me for a private showing…you won’t be disappointed!
